This 40 year old woman from the Gurnee area sought plastic surgery for large, somewhat asymmetric breasts, with associated symptoms such as chronic lower back pain, and should discomfort with bra strap indentations.  She wore a 36DDD bra size, which had increased with each of her 3 children, as well as with mild weight gain (20 pounds) with age.  She had no history of breast biopsies or family history of breast cancer, and her mammograms had been clear.

I advised her that she would be an excellent candidate for breast reduction via standard techniques (a keyhole incision leading to an anchor shaped scar), with plans to remove more breast tissue on the left.  Her story and photos were submitted to her insurance company, which approved the procedure several weeks later.

She indeed underwent a classic breast reduction (with a concomitant abdominoplasty with hip and flank liposuction as part of a “Mommy Makeover”), with removal of 584 grams on the right, and 746 grams of tissue on the left.  This left her with approximately a fuller C/smaller D cup bra size range (as desired), and provided almost immediate improvement of her back, neck and shoulder pain.  She has healed quite nicely in the early post-operative period (photos are from approximately one month post-op), and even with her other “Mommy Makeover” surgeries, is back to fairly normal activities already.  If you are living with symptomatic mammary hypertrophy and are interested in breast reduction in northern Illinois, call (847) 234-9464 to schedule your consultation today.
