This 62 year-old woman returned to our Lake Forest office several years after having undergone an breast implant exchange and mastopexy, to inquire about her options to rejuvenate her face in general, especially in the neckline areas.  Indeed, she had a fair amount of sun damage and skin laxity due to gravity and general aging, and was especially bothered by her “turkey neck” effect.

I recommended a formal necklift via a facelifting approach, which is generally necessary, especially in cases where there is such skin laxity.  I advised her that this would require precise, well-hidden incisions behind the ears and under the chin, to tighten the underlying musculature as well, and maximally trim and redrape the excess skin.  I also counseled her that this would likely not improve the finer wrinkles around her mouth, and that these would be better suited to treatment with a soft tissue filler or microdermabrasion

Indeed, the patient underwent a formal facelift/necklift under light general anesthesia as an overnight procedure (as well as an upper and lower blepharoplasty to rejuvenate her eyelid areas).  She recovered very quickly, and was amazed and how effectively (and painlessly) her neck was tightened, especially on the profile view (photographs are from approximately 2 months post-op).  If you have significant aging of the jawline and neck areas, you are probably a candidate, like many others in Chicago, for a necklift and/or a facelift.  It’s easy to find out more about these powerful rejuvenating procedures:  just call and schedule your confidential consultation today.
