"Afterglow" Aesthetic Skin Care
Lake Forest Plastic Surgery is proud to feature Paulette as our licensed aesthetician, to administer our "Afterglow" Aesthetic Skin Care Services. Paulette, who has practiced under the supervision of a dermatologist in southern Wisconsin, is currently offering medical-grade facial skin care services (such as facials and glycolic acid peels) to smooth, refine and rejuvenate your overall appearance, without undergoing invasive surgery. Appointments for skin evaluations or formal treatments generally are on Wednesday afternoons. She is happy to see patients from all over the Chicago-area, as well as northern Lake County and southern Wisconsin, who may not yet be ready for plastic surgery, but are interested in non-invasive skin rejuvenation.
The cornerstone of these services is the "Regenique" deep skin rejuvenation system (as seen demonstrated by Lake Forest Plastic Surgery on Fox Morning News with Tamron Hall on 1/9/06), which combines microdermabrasion to exfoliate dead or dried layers of skin, followed by ultrasound therapy to stimulate the deeper collagen, elastin and fibroblast components of the dermis. Regenique is a enjoyable, spa-like experience, which also features a warm silicone face mask to superhydrate the skin, leach away toxins and debris via perspiration, and simultaneously dilate the pores to encourage the deeper absorption of skin care products. The procedure is optimal for adults of all ages with sun-damaged, dehydrated skin, is safe for almost all skin types, takes about 45 minutes, and there is virtually no down-time. Microdermabrasion alone can also benefit virtually any skin type.
Paulette also offers customized facials, which are designed to suit your individual skin concerns, including deep pore cleansing, hydration, minimization of sun damage and/or rosacea. Our facials utilize medical-grade products, and are great pampering treatments: all facials include hand, arm and foot massage, and treat the neck and upper back as well as the facial area.
Also available are "NeoStrata" physician-strength glycolic acid peels, which are a viable alternative to more invasive chemical peels. Benefits include a diminished appearance of acne scarring or fine lines, and noticeably softer, more supple and radiant skin. These can be especially beneficial for oily-prone skin. Preparation at home with the NeoStrata professionaly home care regimen 2 weeks prior to the peels is required, and a series of 6 peels is recommended for optimal results.
Finally, we have incorporated the highly effective Obagi skin care line as an at-home regimen for patients with melasma (uneven, "blotchy" pigmentation) due to sun-damage or hormonal fluctuations. More severe cases can be thereafter be treated with the Obagi Blue Peel, usually under anesthesia, and adminstered by Dr. Steinwald.

We would like to thank Charlotte from BOTOX and Rachel from Obagi for helping to arrange our Spring Open House on April 19, 2006, during which live demonstrations of Botox, Restylane, Regenique and Neo-Strata peels were performed. Many thanks as well to the patients who participated and the prospective patients who attended; we hope to have another similar Open House in the near future . . .
