Laser Skin Treatments in Chicago

The most recent addition to our "Afterglow" Skin Rejuvenation Service offerings is our Trimatrixx erbium:YAG skin resurfacing laser. This is a relatively comfortable but very effective exfoliation and skin tightening modality, which is generally gentler than CO2 lasers, and is associated with less redness, peeling or overall downtime. Paulette, our licensed skin aesthetician, has undergone advanced training in laser therapy, and can effectively treat sun damage, acne scarring or complexion/pigmentations irregularities, as well as early-to-moderate signs of facial and extremity aging in general with this laser.

In particular, the Trimatrixx (erb:YAG) laser is ideal for:

• Photodamage and general (earlier) signs of aging;
• Skin tightening, especially around the eyes and mouth;
• Scar minimization, in particular acne pitting/scarring;
• Lighter pigmented lesions such as solar lentigo or "age spots", or uneven pigmentation in general;
• "Fractionated" skin resurfacing for general complexion improvement, reduction in pore size, and for quicker healing overall;
• Ablative resurfacing for more severe sun damage, acne scarring or deeper wrinkles
• Custom treatments of the neck/décolleté, arms, hands, etc.
• As a complement to recent eyelid or facelift surgery, for residual, finer wrinkles not directly addressed by these other techniques.

The intensity of the laser can be adjusted from a "lunchtime peel" with minimal downtime, to a more aggressive mid-depth peel, which may lead to a fair amount of short-term redness and peeling, but is very effective for acne scarring or severely sun-damaged skin.

Results from these treatments are usually best following a series of three treatments, with 2-4 weeks in between. Paulette is generally available to perform laser treatments on Wednesday afternoons (and occasionally Mondays), by appointment only.
